History and Development of IFFINA
Indonesia International Furniture & Craft Fair (IFFINA) is a leading international exhibition that displays various furniture and craft products from all over the world. IFFINA was first held in 2008 as an initiative of the Indonesian Rattan Furniture and Crafts Association (AMKRI) to promote the Indonesian furniture and crafts industry on the international stage.
The Beginning of the Formation of IFFINA
Since its inception, IFFINA has had a vision to become the main platform for Indonesian furniture and craft manufacturers to showcase their products to international buyers. The aim is to increase exports and expand the global market for the Indonesian furniture industry. With the support of the government and the private sector, IFFINA has succeeded in attracting the attention of buyers, designers and architects from various parts of the world.
Development and Implementation of IFFINA
Since it was first held, IFFINA has continued to grow both in terms of the number of participants and visitors. Following are some of the important milestones in IFFINA’s history:
IFFINA 2008: The first edition of this exhibition was held in Jakarta and featured various furniture and craft products from all over Indonesia. The exhibition received a positive response from the industry and attracted many international visitors.
IFFINA 2010: Experienced an increase in the number of participants and visitors. This exhibition is becoming known as one of the largest furniture exhibitions in Southeast Asia.
IFFINA 2015: Expanding its reach by adding more international participants. This year, IFFINA also began to integrate more seminars and workshops for professionals in the furniture and crafts industry.
IFFINA 2018: Celebrating the first decade with a bigger exhibition and more innovation. The focus on sustainability and eco-friendly design is starting to take center stage.
IFFINA 2020: Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, IFFINA will still be held in a virtual format, allowing participants and visitors to participate online.
IFFINA 2023: Physically held again with strict health protocols. The exhibition featured more than 500 exhibitors from 30 countries and was attended by thousands of visitors from all over the world.
IFFINA Schedule and Location
Since its inception, IFFINA has usually been held every year in March or April. However, the schedule may change depending on specific conditions and situations. The following are several locations and schedules for IFFINA:
IFFINA 2008-2012: Held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.
IFFINA 2013-2019: Moved to the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, Tangerang, to accommodate the increasing number of participants and visitors.
IFFINA 2020: Held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
IFFINA 2021-2022: Returning to physical format at ICE BSD City with adjusted health protocols.
IFFINA 2023: Held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran.
IFFINA 2024: A Brighter Future
In 2024, IFFINA will be held on September 14-17 in BSD City, Tangerang. The event is expected to be one of the largest in its history, with many more participants and visitors attending to explore a range of innovative and high-quality furniture and craft products.
IFFINA 2024 will feature a variety of products, ranging from home and office furniture to hotels and resorts. In addition, there will be seminars and workshops discussing various topics such as design, production technology and sustainability in the furniture industry.
